SAIE : Prize Distribution Ceremony

21st February ’09. SAIE Auditorium. 3 pm.

It was the Annual Prize Distribution day in our school. We were all up there in the auditorium to get recognized for all the hard work that we had put up during our ISC’08.

When we (Rownick & me) reached there, the hall was pretty full. We found Todi, Dhritiman, Sayan, Sharanya, Tannistha and Shukti sitting. There was hardly any space left for us. Somehow we managed to squeeze in. Still two of our batch mates were missing. Soham and Romit. They came soon.

Shukti showed me her new NOKIA. I don’t know why she changed her hand-set. The last one was a stunner and I mean it!

Let’s get back to business. The ICSE toppers were given 400 bucks along with the two books, the certificate and a Monginis food packet. When our turn came everything was same except that the prize money was reduced to 300 bucks and further reduced to 1st place holders only. INJUSTICE No. 1.

On the other hand 1st place holder of Humanities stream was awarded with 800 bucks. INJUSTICE No. 2.

And Shukti was awarded with only one book instead of the customary two books. INJUSTICE No. 3.

With so much happening, we suddenly realized that the ceremony had come to an end and it's time to leave. We were down 3 floors when we decided to wish Aparna Mam with a simple “Hi”. So we again climbed up to the 5th floor, wished her (I was the 1st one to do that), she completely ignored us (me, Soham, Romit – the 3 of us whom she despised the most); instead she busied herself with Rownick’s Grisham. Guess she cannot face us. If you know us, you will know why I am saying this.

Oh there’s one more thing to say. I was acknowledged by someone as his childhood friend. I am honoured.
